Wash N' GO

"Wash N Go" is literally my go to hairstyle. At this point I am not sure if I even consider it a hairstyle, it is a lifestyle for me. I hope you enjoyed!

Details

Before applying product in my hair I usually spend time conditioning and detangling from my previous Wash N Go. For those who are wondering about shampoo and cleansing, I DO NOT shampoo, I Co-Wash about once a week. There are great shampoos out there without Sulfates, however if it's not necessary to strip your hair completely of its natural oils and moisture. If you are using products with "Silicones" (Build Up) then I understand why you may need to shampoo. Go light on the Silicones and stay away from sulfates!

Some great cleansers that I LIVE by are:
As I am: Coconut CoWash
DevaCurl: No Poo

Detangling

This is the most important part of the Natural Hair process. This is where you provide moisture and gently detangle your tresses. It is very important that you use a very moisturizing conditioner with A LOT of slip to pour moisture back into those frizzy strands while separating. Be sure to set aside ample amount of time for wash day so you can take your time to detangle gently.

While detangling use you fingers as much as you can and a wide tooth comb if you must. I do not go a wash without a wide tooth comb because I have so much frizz, but if you can go without please do!

Some awesome conditioners that I LOVE are:
DevaCurl One Condition
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration

Styling

Once you washed out all of your detangling conditioner keep your hair soaking wet to apply your leave-in. If your detangling conditioner is your leave-in then thats great. I usually user a cheaper detangling conditioner so I won't finish all of my Leave-in so quickly. LETS BE REAL, Hair products are NOT cheap!

  1. Apply your Leave-in conditioner in sections, this helps to ensure the product is distributed evenly and not just at your crown. Pull your bangs forward and apply the product the same way you intend to wear your hair.
  2. It is important to apply the product while your hair is soaking wet. The hair strand absorbs more moisture while wet vs damp or dry. It also helps eliminate frizz.
  3. For more curl definition, apply a small amount of gel. Very light!
  4. Once you apply your product begin to scrunch your hair from the ends. If you are doing this process in the shower scrunch for about 30 secs but do not remain in the shower too long after. The steam from the shower will cause frizz... RUN AWAY!
  5. Continue to scrunch your hair every few minutes until dry!
  6. If you need your curls to dry faster diffuse your hair on low heat. Be gentle to avoid frizz!
  7. Use a Pick to add Volume!

Leave-Ins I LOVE
Mixed Chicks: Leave in Conditioner
DevaCurl- One Condition
Twisted Sista- Leave In
African Pride- Leave In

Tips

  1. If you notice some frizz, Apply some water and product on the frizzy curl and redefine with your finger.
  2. If you choose to diffuse, use a downward motion for the back of your hair to avoid shrinkage.
  3. Apply your oil when your curls are completely dry. It will seal in the moisture.
  4. Sleep with your hair in a pineapple with a satin head wrap or satin pillow case.
